Thomson Boeing 757-200 registered G-OOBI diverted to Athens due to bomb threat

A Thomson Boeing 757-200 registered G-OOBI, performing flight BY226 from Bristol (UK) to Sharm el Sheikh (Egypt), diverted to Athens after a bomb threat was received. The plane landed safely at around 15:00L and was parked in a special remote stand in order to be inspected. The flight, with 213 passengers on board, is expected to continue later this evening for Sharm el Sheikh.

Berkut Air Boeing 757 registered UP-B5701 arrived in Athens, bringing Kazakhstan officials

The Boeing 757-200 of Berkut State Air Company registered UP-B5701 arrived today in Athens. The plane carried the Chairman of the Senate of Kazakhstan, Mr Kassym-Jomart Tokayev who is taking part at the Fall Meetings that OSCE Parliamentary Assembly organizes. These meetings are held in Athens from October 9th until 12th. Over 200 OSCE Parliamentarians from 49 countries are expected to arrive these days in Athens. The 17th OSCE Ministerial Council is also scheduled to be hosted in Athens on 1st and 2nd of December 2009.
The plane arrived under the callsign BEC003, but the strange thing is that Berkut Air is banned from flights within the EU (see EU ban list).

Sky Wings Boeing 757 registered SX-BTH performed a test flight today

Sky Wings Boeing 757-200 registered SX-BTH did a test flight today. It departed around 10:00L as GSW100P and headed to HER (Heraklion, Greece). It returned as GSW101P and landed on runway 03R at 16:55L.

Sky Wings Boeing 757-200 reregistered to SX-BTH

Sky Wings Boeing 757-200 was reregistered today from N410JR to SX-BTH, as expected (see post), in Athens while being parked still on taxiway "B".

Emergency landing of Daallo Airlines B757 in Athens

A Boeing 757-200 of Daallo Airlines (D3/DAO) registered G-STRX, which operated by Astreus, declared an emergency due to low oil pressure on engine #2. It was flight DAO100 from CDG (Paris, France) to JIB (Djibouti City, Djibouti) with 88 passengers on board. The plane landed safely at 03:51L on runway 03L of ATH. It was then moved to a remote stand and is being inspected, before being cleared to continue to JIB.

Sky Wings to take delivery of Boeing 757-200 registered SX-BTH

Sky Wings is expected to take delivery of their first Boeing 757-200 in Athens the next couple of days. The plane is expected to depart from SJO (San José, Costa Rica) tonight and is heading to YYR (Goose Bay, Canada) before crossing the Atlantic and continuing to Athens. The plane is currently registered N410JR (c/n 27204) and is expected to be reregistered to SX-BTH upon arrival in Athens. This was originally intended to be taken by Khors Aircompany under the registration of UR-CDN but ended up with Sky Wings. Since 26/9/2008 it was parked in San Jose and a few weeks later it went in Coopesa hangar for cabin rearrangement and other maintenance operations. During the last week it was doing engine power tests and yesterday it was prepared for today's flight. This plane is expected to operate on the Tehran - Kish Islands route at Iran.

Sun d'Or will operate 2 flights from Athens to Tel Aviv

According to Amadeus, Sun d'Or will operate two flights from Athens to Tel Aviv on Wednesday 15 April.

The flights will depart according to the following schedule :

2U 5544 1600 ATH-TLV 1755 with B757
2U 5546 1900 ATH-TLV 2055 with B757

On the inbound sector Amadeus shows only one flight :
2U 5543 1230 TLV-ATH 1440 with B757

Gainjet B757-200 registered SX-RFA arrived in Athens

Gainjet's Boeing 757-200 registered SX-RFA arrived last night at 01:10L in Athens from MUC (Munich, Germany), where it departed from at 20:30Z. It is in full Gainjet colors and has blended winglets installed (as was seen in MUC a week ago, see post)

Gainjet B757-200 registered SX-RFA parked in Munich

Gainjet's Boeing 757-200 registered SX-RFA is currently parked in MUC (Munich, Germany) on it's full Gainjet livery and with blended winglets installed.
Short history of this plane until having the colors and winglets:
During October 2008 it was ferried in Air Bashkortostan colors (ex EI-LTO) from DME (Moscow, Russia) to NWI (Norwich, England), via MUC, GVA (Geneva, Switzerland) and MSE (Kent, England), where it was repainted to Gainjet's colors. It was then ferried back to MUC in order to have it's blended winglets installed. By mid-November it was ready and it is parked there since then.

Privilege Style Boeing 752-200 registered EC-HDS with Villarreal logo and sticker

Privilege Style Boeing 752-200 registered EC-HDS was seen in Athens airport with a Villarreal F.C. logo and sticker on the fuselage. The plane brought the football team of Villarreal to Athens on Sunday at 21:20L as PVG7991. In the past this plane had many football related stickers and logos applied on it as it usually carries spanish football teams and fans.

Condor 6334 emergency diversion to Athens

At around 19:00L (7/3/2009) Condor flight 6334 (calling as CFG 334) from Frankfurt to Dubai had to divert to Athens airport due to a weather radar problem. The plane did a holding over KEA VOR in order to burn some fuel before landing in Athens. 263 passengers and 8 crew members were on board. The aircraft involved is Boeing 757-300 registered D-ABOJ. Another aircraft was ferried to Athens to take the passengers and continue to Dubai. This (ferry) flight was DE 902 (Boeing 757-300 registered D-ABOE). The flight with the passengers departed Athens at 01:00L (8/3/2009) as DE 6334 heading to Dubai. The plane with the emergency (D-ABOJ) left Athens as DE 903 at 03:45L (8/3/2009) heading back to FRA.

Emergency diversion of Jet2 2113 in Athens

The flight of Jet2.com 2113 from Manchester (MAN) to Taba, Egypt (TAB) had to divert to Athens due to an emergency on Monday, March 2nd 2009. Captain declared an emergency due to a rapid depressurization. The plane was carrying 183 passengers and 9 crew members. ATC gave priority to this flight and was vectored for landing on runway 21L in Athens. After a safe landing at around 15:30L, a few passengers had to be taken to hospital since they had problems with their ears due to the depressurization. The plane involved is a Boeing 757-200 registered G-LSAA.
